Dedication to Blogging
Posted by Kori Ellis in Work, Writing on March 6th, 2009
Every single day I write hundreds (sometimes thousands) of words elsewhere. Yet when it comes to this personal blog, I can’t seem to find the time.
The past few weeks, I have had an excuse. At b5media, we have been working on some great things — namely, the re-launch of Splendicity.com. But after countless hours of projects and preparation, I love the result.
Splendicity is a property that encompasses 13 beauty and style blogs, along with a variety of related categories. The result is a destination where you can find everything and anything from the world of fashion and beauty. I continue to blog at both Shopaholics Daily and Shoe Blitz, while helping to manage Splendicity and other b5media properties. Time-consuming? Sure. Fun? Of course — otherwise I wouldn’t do it.
So back to (lack of) dedication to blogging. From now on, I’m going to treat this blog like the rest of my obligations. Put it on my spreadsheet and at least write five days a week. I’m sure sometimes it won’t be that insightful, but I’ll force myself into the habit. After all, if I’m dedicated to everyone else, I should certainly be dedicated to myself, right?
Blogging at Robust Cooking
Posted by Kori Ellis in Cooking on November 21st, 2008
As if I didn’t have enough to do,
I am now blogging at Robust Cooking with Rachel Segal. It’s a fun b5media blog about cooking, healthy meals, family dishes and more.
Check out this week’s posts, where you will find some yummy recipes for a Cajun Thanksgiving and a fabulous giveaway. And be sure to check out Rachel’s recipe for Sausage and Mushroom Penne Gratin.
I now write five blogs with b5 (well, three sole blogs, plus two co-blogging situations), plus maybe a dozen more elsewhere. It’s funny because two years ago, I was so against this blogging thing. Ahh … how times change!

What’s Up?
Posted by Kori Ellis in Life on November 2nd, 2008
I’m been writing (and blogging) professionally for several years, so it’s probably odd that I’ve never had a personal blog. There are several reasons for that - lack of time being probably the most prominent. However, I figured that it was about time. So here it is.
What will this blog be about? Who knows!? I think it will be a collection of things that interest me - sports opinions, shopping tips, and probably a few rants and funny anecdotes along the way.
If you are reading this, you probably know me. But if not, here’s just a few tidbits about my life.
I live in Texas with my husband and two dogs. My husband and I both work from home, so we spend 24 hours a day together. And unlike a lot of couples that “need a break” from each other, we actually prefer to be together all the time. We work in our home office (really the converted third bedroom) about four feet from each other.
I stay up really late at night and I don’t sleep much. This is probably unhealthy, but it’s what I do. My husband and I usually go to bed well after 5am.
I write, blog, edit and report on a variety of things. I cover the San Antonio Spurs for WOAI.com and a few other publications. I run a sports message board - SpursTalk.com. I am a Channel Editor at b5media - a fabulous network of blogs. I was the Sports Channel Editor up until recently when I became the Beauty & Style Channel and Technology Channel Editor as well.
Additionally, I write a few blogs for b5 - Shoe Blitz, Just A Formality, The Fantasy Kickoff, and Travel Product Guide (where I co-blog with Mary Jo).
I am also the guide to fashion Accessories for About.com. I have worked for the company for a couple years. I was formerly the guide to San Antonio before I switched to the Accesssories site. Don’t think I’m done yet… I also write for SheKnows.com as their Beauty & Style columnist, as well as contribute to their Food & Cooking channel. I blog about weddings for Bride.ca and Truly Wedding Blog. I also write about sports, travel, fashion, web development and a multitude of other subjects for various blogs, websites, magazines and newspapers.
Sounds like a lot, right? It definitely fills my time.
Alright, enough about me.
The Presidential election is two days away. Though Obama sometimes seems like a lock, I’m not so sure what people will actually do on election day. Who am I voting for? Well, it doesn’t really matter. I will only say that I’m not thrilled with either choice.
Happy Sunday!
